The School House Volume 33 Issue 3
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the Spring 2026 issue of The School House. With summer lurking on the horizon, we are bringing you another fantastic issue. First, we have salutations from the president of the Teaching Younger Learners SIG, Erin Noxon. Next, Anthony DiSorbo provides us with a clever and
deceptively simple twist on a classic vocabulary drill game that provides students with a more semantically-enriching experience suitable for an effective English classroom. Finally, TYL’s own president Erin Noxon co-writing with student Fumika Maekawa provide us with a rare treasure – an
insight into a student’s personal perspective on a year-long research project culminating in an English-language presentation for a global audience, presented in a bilingual reflection paper which we are thrilled to be able to share with you today. I truly hope you find as much value in these articles as I have in reviewing and compiling this issue.
On a personal note, I have been a member of the editorial team at The School House for only a little while, and though I now have the privilege of writing this editor’s introduction to the publication, I can think of nothing more to say than to give thanks to the editorial team, without whom none of this would be possible; the authors, without whose tireless academic work we would not be able to continue this publication year after year; and of course our readers, without whom none of these
undertakings would have any meaning. Thank you for joining us at The School House this issue – it’s a good one, I think! – and I hope we can captivate your attention and stir your imagination in our publications yet to come.
Best regards,
Alex Crockett
